A General CUP Handbook (Academic Calendar)
This is currently being developed and will include the general academic regulations and lists all programs offered including the names and codes of all the constituent courses and a brief description of each course. This handbook will also include the student regulations and other information.
Student Handbooks for every Program
These are currently being developed by some Heads of Department. The handbooks will include information vital for student planning, including number and types of assessments, assignments, tests and examinations, library policies and inforn1ation of how the program has been improved as a result of stakeholder feedback (including how from the previous year's students has been used to improve the program).
The Award of Scholarships
CUP will introduce scholarships for able poor students and for students in specific subjects that the Government wants to promote. Details of how these scholarships are to be awarded at CUP and how to apply for them will be included in the General Handbook (above).
Masters Program Development
Extending the range of Masters Programs to include other fields where Bachelors degrees have been conferred on CUP graduates, for example, Engineering and Architecture.
Introduction of a PhD program
Discussions have already begun to identify a collaboration partner with whom to offer a joint doctoral program as a first step towards the establishment of a CUP doctorate. National University is one such university with which CUP is currently talking.
Staff Professional Development
The introduction of a Certificate or Diploma in Teaching with courses in teaching techniques, curriculum development, student assessment and academic management, will be developed and implemented for CUP teaching staff.
Support and incentives will be given to CUP staff to gain higher qualifications. One such incentive will be the introduction of a salary bar in the salary structures for staff that has not gone on to complete a higher degree or who have not completed the staff training program.
Research Planning and Development,
The University seeks to raise its research profile. To this end, CUP will publish an annual Register of Research and Scholarly Activity, in which CUP's research Outputs, consultancy reports, reports for industry, conference and seminar presentations, the development of educational materials for use outside of CUP in Cambodia, Masters theses and dissertations and other scholarly works such as textbooks will be reported on. The publishing of this Register on the CUP University website will enable the University to share its research endeavors with other scholars.
Library and Information Technology
It is acknowledged that CUP's library resources need urgent attention, especially with regard to supporting postgraduate programs. Accordingly, the University is in the process of investigating "twinning" possibilities with other universities as well as increasing the number of full text electronic journals available to its students.
Also, within the context of the move of CUP to the new campus, a considerable expansion of the library into an integrated learning resources center is planned, together with further acquisitions of computers and information technology software.
Community Service (Extension Programs)
The University has a tradition of excellence in educating skilled and effective entrepreneurs with a social conscience and international perspective.
In order to fulfill its role as critic and conscience of society, the University is committed to preserving traditional Khmer values and culture, and inculcating national pride. To this end, it plans to identify at least one major social issue to address annually. This will simultaneously provide opportunities for extending undergraduate student learning and research topics for students in the Masters Program.
One possibility which is being explored is the setting up a legal advice center (similar to Legal Aid) as part of the Bachelor of Law program (in the Faculty of Business, Law and Social Science).
International Linkages
In order to further establish its international credibility and to create networking and other opportunities for its staff, the University is seeking to join the Association of Asian Institutes of Higher Learning (ASAIHL).
The University is also currently seeking international universities with which it might cooperate in the exchange of staff and students and in joint research projects. CUP is actively seeking to offer further franchised programs from other overseas universities, or alternatively to provide its students with access to the programs of other universities outside of Cambodia, through "twinning" arrangements.
The balance between an English language based curriculum and a Khmer based curriculum
CUP will offer the Bachelor of Business Administration in both English and Khmer with students being given the option as to which medium of instruction to choose.
