CUP celebrates 3 March Culture Day
Lecturers and students of CUP led by Dr. Chea Chamroeun celebrated the 12th anniversary of 3-March Culture Day on the theme of “Preah Vihear Temple: Venerable place, Khmer Masterpiece and World Heritage.”
This celebration aims to awaken the mind of the Khmer citizens, especially students, to love, preserve and develop Khmer culture. It means that Cambodia is considered as the Kingdom of Culture according to the slogan, Cambodia-Kingdom of Wonder.
Dr. Chea Chamroeun said that the government considers Khmer culture and civilization to be the soul and identity of the nation. Taking this opportunity, Dr. Chea Chamroeun expressed deep gratitude to Prime Minister Hun Sen for struggling against many obstacles to register the Preah Vihear Temple into the World Heritage list successfully on 7th July 2008.
Dr. Chea Chamroeun marked that the 12th anniversary of Culture Day is to demonstrate the unique value of Preah Vihear Temple and to clarify Cambodian sovereignty over the temple walls and over the precious land.
Preah Vihear is a part of Cambodian people's life that can not be separated. Therefore, this event intends to encourage all Khmer people to join the action to take care of the national culture and promote it as well as to make Khmer people, especially the next generation, be aware of it. All for protecting the national culture as the national culture is for all.
