Once a rich civilization and a nation with great dignity, war has turned the country in a sad and horrible place bringing suffering to the population for almost two decades
After peace returned to the country, the Royal Government of Cambodia, under the wise and bright leadership of its Prime Minister, Samdech Hun Sen,has taken steps to develop the country and return prosperity to its people As it sees development of human resources with quality, capacity and ethics as a necessity for the development of Cambodia the Prime Minister has transformed our non governmental organization into the Chamroeun University of Poly-technology with recognition by the Royal Government of Cambodia following to sub-decree nr 56 RN KH dated 15 June 2002
The Chamroeun University of Poly-technology was established in three steps:
- The first step was on 25 March 1990 with the establishment of a non governmental organization “Khmer Youth Development Organization” (KYDO). The purpose of the establishment of KYDO was to educate with morality in the society.
- The second step came on 11 November 2008 with the name modifivation from Khmer Youth Development Organization to “Cambodian Institute for Development and Human Rights” (CIDH) with the purpose to include human rights education together with development of human resources.
- The third step started on 2 February 2002 when the Cambodian Institute for Development and Human Rights was renamed to “Chamroeun University of Poly-technology” (CUP) with the purpose to develop human resources and build capacity,morality and skill
